Jesus asserts His authority over the Sabbath, which angers the Pharisees. Their understanding of why God chose their nation to be His special people is hidden to them, and it’s this misguided belief that begins to drive a wedge between what they believe and what Jesus reveals about the true purpose of their relationship with God.
